Apple iPhone 15 Pro May Feature Under Display Camera With Face ID

New Delhi: The purported Apple iPhone 15 Pro that is likely to be unveiled in the fall of 2023 could arrive with an under panel camera (UPC technology). Co-developed by Samsung Display and OTI Lumionics, a new generation of the UD camera may debut first on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in 2023. The same UD camera is likely to make its way into the iPhone 15 Pro models later in 2023, the media has reported.

Samsung Display has joined hands with OTI Lumionics which develops advanced materials for next-generation OLED displays to develop the UDC, according to a report by The Elec.

Samsung may launch its Galaxy Z Fold 4 with the current UPC technology that we have seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The current UPC technology uses the laser drilling method, which Apple reportedly does not approve of. Toronto, Ontario-based OTI Lumionics has reportedly developed a new organic cathode patterning material that allows “microscopic transparent windows to be opened in the cathode and OLED pixel layers”.

Apple will release its iPhone 14 line this year in fall and the iPhone 14 line is expected to introduce significant changes in comparison to last year’s iPhone 13 models that basically had the same design language as its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the newly launched Apple iPhone SE 2022 model’s sales is likely to hit 30 million this year, compared against the 25 million predictions for the 2020 iPhone SE model, according to analysts. The shipment prediction is based on the 5G capabilities on the new iPhone SE that is expected to give a significant boost to Apple’s latest entry-level model, especially in regions outside China.
