ansari: Bjp Is ‘running Courts’: J’khand Cong Mla | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Hours after the Karnataka high court said hijab is not an essential practice in Islam and upheld the ban on it in colleges of the southern state, Congress MLA from Jharkhand’s Jamtara constituency Irfan Ansari on Tuesday said BJP “is now running the courts”. BJP governs Karnataka and the party is in power at the Centre too.
Speaking to reporters outside the assembly in the afternoon during a break of the ongoing budget session, Ansari said, “As a law-abiding citizen and lawmaker, I will have to respect the court’s verdict. But all I want to say is that I think BJP is now running the courts.”
Later talking to TOI, Ansari alleged that the way BJP and RSS are running a “campaign against Muslims and the minority community across the country”, it is quite evident that both are “directly or indirectly influencing or trying to saffronise all institutions in the country”.
He said, “Why did this row over wearing or not wearing hijab erupt now, just ahead of the recently concluded assembly polls in five states? How does it matter to anyone? Everyone should respect each other’s religious practices and affiliations but BJP is continuously trying to intimidate others through its polarization tactics. Today, hijab, tomorrow, it will be something else.”
