Amit Shah on 3-day J&K tour: Worshiped at Vaishno Devi temple; Can declare ST status for hill community

Home Minister Amit Shah offered prayers at Vaishno Devi temple on Tuesday. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh were also present with him.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from Monday. He offered prayers at Vaishno Devi temple today. He will lay the foundation stone of different projects in Jammu after the puja. After this, he will address a public meeting in Rajouri. Many development projects will be launched here.

The Home Minister can announce the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari community. Rajouri, Handwara, Poonch and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir have a large population of hill people. The people of this community have influence in 10 assembly seats in 5 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah met representatives of Dogra, Gurjar, Bakarwal, Pahari Samaj and Sikh community in Jammu before visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi temple.

Shah will accompany LG as Home Minister
Amit Shah will reach Srinagar on the evening of 4 October. Will meet many BJP leaders here. In Srinagar, Shah will attend a high-level meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The meeting will be attended by senior officers of police, CRPF and intelligence agencies of Jammu and Kashmir and the Centre.

On October 5, he will review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in a meeting to be held at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar. Will also meet different delegations in Srinagar and Baramulla.

Reached Kashmir for the second time after the abrogation of Article 370
Shah has visited Jammu and Kashmir for the second time after the abrogation of Article 370, while this is his first visit to Jammu. Earlier in October 2021, he went on a tour of Kashmir. Amit Shah’s visit to Jammu was scheduled for 30 September, but his schedule was changed.

Blast happened 5 days before Shah’s visit

Before the Home Minister’s visit, on September 28, two blasts took place in buses in Udhampur in a span of 8 hours. The first blast took place on Wednesday night at around 10.30 pm in an empty bus parked near the petrol pump at Domel Chowk. 2 people were injured in this.
