KHARAGPUR. Kharagpur’s Divisional Railway Manager M.S. Hashmi inaugurated the jingle based audio announcement system at Kharagpur station on Thursday. Ninja Race NTES integrated with IPIS and audio advertisements through announcement system facility was inaugurated by ribbon cutting by DRM Kharagpur in the presence of ADRM Kharagpur, Sr. DCM Kharagpur and other branch officials at RRI Panel Room of Kharagpur station. The agency also gave a presentation about the working of the system.
For the first time, Kharagpur Division has awarded contract for playing advertisement jingles at 16 stations through Passenger Announcement System. Existing passenger announcements with a maximum duration of 20-seconds at stations in this circle (Shalimar, Tikiapara, Santragachi, Anna Dul, Bauria, Uluberia, Bagnan, Mecheda, Panshkuda, Digha, Kharagpur, Medinipur, Jhargram, Ghatshila, Hijli and Balasore) Announcement will be made in the system before and after the announcement of arrival/departure of the train. This is the first API based technology which is going to be used in Indian Railways.
This contract has been acquired by Ninja Media Creations-Chennai for 05 years, whose annual license fee will be Rs.8.05 lakhs per year. The total contract value for 16 stations will be Rs 47,49,500.
Divisional Railway Manager inaugurated the new system
This contract is for integration of NTES with IPIS to automate train arrival timings and live tracking of trains and automatically fetch coach position data from CRIS in PA system for train information and coach position announcements . The system is also integrated with cloud technology to send important railway information to all stations from a single dashboard. The software for commercial advertisements (jingles) shall be provided by the licensee at its own cost and shall be compatible with the existing passenger announcement system at the stations.
DRM Kharagpur and Sr. DCM Kharagpur also briefed the media persons after the event and said that the division is focusing on revenue generation through non-conventional and innovative schemes which will be beneficial for both rail users as well as railways. This new initiative will also boost the non-fare revenue income of the Board. It will also save huge cost of procurement and maintenance of railway infrastructure and hardware/software.
