Alia Bhatt And Ranbir Kapoor Reportedly To Star In Ramayana, Netizens Have Mixed Reactions

New Delhi: ‘Ramayan’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is scheduled to begin filming in December, according to reports. After working in ‘Brahmastra’, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor seem to be cast in the leading roles in the much-anticipated movie. According to reports, Alia Bhatt will star as Goddess Sita with her real-life husband Ranbir Kapoor, who will portray Lord Ram, in the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film.

Producers apparently put the film on hold because they couldn’t find an actor to play Ravana’s role, but it now seems that their search is over. According to Pinkvilla, Yash, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor will play the most prominent roles. According to a source cited in a Pinkvilla article, Alia was the original choice for Ramayana, but the dates at the time couldn’t coincide for a number of reasons. However, due to the film’s long wait, Nitesh and director Madhu Mantena have eventually chosen to stick with their original plan.

A source close to the publication said, “Over the last few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been spotted visiting the DNEG office, to check on the progress of Ramayana. The pre-visualization of the world has already been done and the team is now doing look tests with Ranbir to play Lord Ram. The purpose of the visit has been to get the right look for Ranbir as on getting it right, he will then step into the physical transformation aspect.”

Meanwhile, one of Alia Bhatt’s fan pages attempted to explain why she was the ideal choice for the role.

Alia was recently photographed leaving RSVP’s office after meeting the filmmaker. She was seen hugging Nitesh and saying goodbye before getting into her car.

On the work front, ‘Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva’, Alia and Ranbir’s first movie together, came out last year. She will soon be featured in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ directed by Karan Johar.
