Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth and Dhanush split in 2022.
In a recent interview, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth spoke about Dhanush and Anirudh Ravichander.
Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth made a rare mention about her ex-husband, actor Dhanush in a recent interview. The director, who recently released Lal Salaam, was married to Dhanush for almost two decades. However, in January 2022, Aishwaryaa and Dhanush announced their separation in a joint statement. Over two years since the split, Aishwaryaa spoke about Dhanush for what seems to be the first time in a new chat. The filmmaker brought up his name while talking about Anirudh Ravichander’s musical career.
In the interview, Aishwaryaa was asked about giving Anirudh the platform to make his music debut. The musician made his debut with 3, directed by Aishwaryaa. The film starred Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in the lead. Anirudh had composed the viral track, Why This Kolaveri Di, among other hit songs in the album. Although the film was hers, Aishwaryaa said that the credit to kick-start Anirudh’s music career goes to Dhanush.
Speaking in Tamil, Aishwaryaa said, “I am happy (that he has become one of the most sought-after music director). However, his entry into the film industry has no connection with me. He is my cousin but his musical talents were recognised by Dhanush. He encouraged him to compose the songs of 3. His entry into the cinema industry was fully because of Dhanush.”
Aishwaryaa also revealed that Anirudh’s parents had a different plan for the musician. “Anirudh’s parents originally wanted him to move to Singapore and pursue higher studies. Dhanush convinced Anirudh’s parents to let him explore his musical talents. From buying him a keyboard to pushing for him to compose the songs of 3, the credit goes to Dhanush,” she revealed.
“Anirudh’s entry into the industry is because of Dhanush. But today, where he has reached is because of his hard work. And I am happy for him,” Aishwaryaa said.
Anirudh has closely worked with Dhanush over the years. These include Maari, Thanga Magan and Velaiyilla Pattathari.
