Air India Express flight engine catches fire: Smoke fills up before take-off, 146 people on board

Air India Express flight IX 442 from Muscat to Cochin caught fire on take-off at Muscat airport. Actually, the flight was about to take off when smoke started appearing inside it. Investigation revealed that the engine was on fire. All 141 passengers and 6 crew members on board the flight have been evacuated.

Relief flight is being arranged
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has shared information about this. Also told that relief flights are being arranged to take the passengers to their destinations.

Flight diverted due to smell of burning
Earlier in July 2022, an Air India Express flight from Calicut to Dubai had to be diverted towards Muscat. Actually, there was a smell of something burning in the flight. The flight was diverted towards Muscat to avoid any untoward incident. According to the DGCA, a burning smell emanated from a vent in the forward gallery of the Air India Express aircraft, following which the plane was diverted to Muscat.

IndiGo made two emergency landings on July 14
On July 14, an IndiGo flight 6E-859 from Delhi to Vadodara had made an emergency landing in Jaipur. It was told that there was some technical fault in the plane, after which its emergency landing was made as a precaution. On July 14, IndiGo flight 6E-2615, going from Delhi to Manipur’s capital Imphal, had to land at Kolkata airport due to bad weather. There were 141 passengers on board the plane.
