For over two decades, Aarti’s father worked as a truck mechanic, earning just Rs 20,000 per month to support their family.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET) is one of India’s toughest entrance exams, attracting several aspiring medical students each year. Aarti Jha is one of the NEET aspirants who has successfully passed the NEET exam and serves as a remarkable source of inspiration.

At the mere age of 21, Aarti Jha secured an impressive rank in the NEET 2023 exam. Her journey to becoming a doctor was marked by significant challenges. Hailing from a financially struggling family, Aarti Jha is the daughter of a truck mechanic.

For over two decades, Aarti’s father worked as a truck mechanic, earning just Rs 20,000 per month to support their family. Aarti’s parents managed to fund her enrollment in medical entrance coaching for her NEET preparation through their savings.

During her NEET preparations, Aarti had to commute a daily 17km from her home to her coaching centre. To save Rs 10 each day, she opted for a bus for half of the distance and walked the remaining 3 km. Alongside her NEET studies, she also started giving tuition to school students to get additional income for her family.

Despite all the challenges, she remained focused on her goal throughout her journey. Aarti even studied without electricity while preparing for NEET. Her commitment paid off when she secured a place in a medical institute by clearing the NEET exam.

Aarti secured the 192nd rank in NEET 2023, with a 33rd position in the OBC category. Her elder brother and sister are currently preparing for the SSC exam, while Aarti is on her way to becoming the first doctor in her family.

In an interview with TOI, Aarti said, “I can’t express how happy and thankful I am. This achievement has given me the strength to overcome all the challenges I’ve faced.”

“I passed my class 12 board exam in 2018 at SS Public School with an 86% score and began preparing for NEET in 2020. My primary objective is to pursue a degree in MBBS. I have not yet decided on my specialisation,” she mentioned.

Aarti lives with her parents and three siblings in the Sewla area of Agra. She is the third among four siblings.
