Agniveer is leaving the training, Congress said – the foundation itself is wrong: this scheme of recruitment in the army has broken the dreams of the youth to serve the country.

The Congress has targeted the central government over the ‘Agneepath’ scheme of army recruitment. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh’s attack came after media reports claimed that youths joining the Indian Army as ‘Agniveers’ are leaving training midway.

Ramesh tweeted that earlier it was the dream of the youth to join the army and serve the country. Respecting the resolve of the youth to serve the country, they were given better facilities and job security. He said that the very foundation of the Agneepath scheme is wrong. The government has shattered the dreams of the youth to serve the nation. The government has created many apprehensions in the minds of the youth.

50 youth left training
The training of the first batch of Agniveer in the Indian Army has been completed. Next month, these Agniveers will reach different units of the army.

The training of the second batch has also started from March. On one side there are trainees among the fire fighters who are undergoing training who have been thrown out because of being on medical leave for 30 days or more.

At the same time, there are such youths who have said goodbye to the army leaving training because of getting better opportunities.

According to sources, in the first batch itself, more than 50 youths left the training midway as they got job opportunities elsewhere.

Agniveer’s training is for six months, after which he becomes a part of the army. According to the sources, there is no such rule in the Agniveer recruitment rules that what can be done to stop the youth who leave the training of Agniveer in the middle.

According to an army officer, there is a rule in the training of officers that if the trainees leave midway, then the expenses incurred on them till then are recovered from them. A similar view is being taken in the case of Agniveer as well.

With this kind of rule, only those people will come in Agniveer recruitment who want to be a part of the army by becoming Agniveer for four years.
