Senior Advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court Vinod Ghai has become the new Advocate General of Punjab. After getting approval from the Governor’s office, the Punjab Government issued the notification. There was opposition to his appointment.

Opponents argued that he had been the lawyer of Dera Sacha Sauda Mukhi Ram Rahim, accused in the sacrilege case of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Therefore he should not be appointed to this post. However, the AAP government sidelined all these protests.
