Due to heavy rains, 3 to 4 feet of water has flooded the roads of Mohali. Along with this, water has also entered the houses.

There is a water-logging situation in Punjab due to incessant rains since yesterday. Roads have become ponds. NDRF team has been called in Mohali as the situation is out of control. Whereas in Ferozepur the rain water has crossed the border. Seeing the situation worsening due to rain, CM Bhagwant Mann has also been alerted. He has ordered the MLAs and officials to go to the field.

CM Mann said that wherever there is waterlogging, use water pumps. He has instructed the officials to make every possible effort due to the possibility of heavy rains for the next two days. All district administrative teams have been put on alert mode.

On the other hand, flood gates had to be opened in Chandigarh due to increase in the water level of Sukhna Lake. In many areas, main roads and squares have been flooded. Water has also reached inside the houses.

Cabinet Minister and DC visited
On the other hand, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and Patiala’s DC Sakshi Sahni visited Badi and Chhoti river amid heavy rains in the district. People were assured that every necessary step would be taken by the administration. In view of the vigilance, the families living near the Badi river have already been asked to move to safer places.

Settlement in Prem Bagh on Devigarh Road
The district administration has made arrangements for stay and food for these families at Prem Bagh Palace on Devigarh Road. In view of the safety of the people, the DC has asked the district administrative teams to be on 24-hour alert mode. DC has appealed to the people that Badi Arai Majra, near Badi river

Water entered 300 houses on Airport Road
Rain water has entered around 300 houses on Mohali Airport Road, Sector-71. Due to the accumulation of about 2-3 feet of water in the houses, people have suffered a lot. The wall of Radha Swami Complex on Airport Road and Phase-3B2, Phase-7 and Village Mator are almost in the same condition. Water has entered inside the houses of people in Phase-2 and Phase-11 of Mohali.

Flood gates of Chandigarh Sukhna Lake opened
Flood gates have been opened as soon as the water level of Sukhna lake reaches the danger zone. The fixed water level of the lake is 1162, but flood gates were opened soon after it was 1163. The water of the lake is moving towards Ghaggar after Baltana and Zirakpur via Kishangarh village of Chandigarh.

The water level of Ghaggar is also increasing continuously. For this reason, the surrounding residential areas are being evacuated. The entire area has been put on alert mode by the local administration. All emergency vehicles have been kept ready by the administration including setting various limits to deal with the emergency.

CM Bhagwant Mann’s order
CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann has tweeted that it is raining heavily in the state for the last two days. Due to this, people are facing problems in the low-lying areas, especially in the areas adjacent to the river. He wrote that instructions have been given to all ministers-MLAs and DCs and SSPs of all districts to go among the people.

Cabinet Minister will visit Meet Hair Ghaggar
Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair will visit Ghaggar in Sangrur district town Khannauri on the instructions of CM Bhagwant Mann to take stock of the ground situation. He said that all efforts are being made that people should not be allowed to face any problem.
