Why is the bypoll happening?
Kuldeep Bishnoi came from this seat in the year 2019 after winning the assembly elections on a Congress ticket. He is the son of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal. Former state president of Haryana Congress, Kumari Selja has resigned due to lack of coordination with former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda. After the resignation of Selja on 9 April 2022, Kuldeep Bishnoi was the contender for the post of president. However, Hooda succeeded and Udaybhan became the president. Because of which Kuldeep left the Congress. Then he joined BJP and resigned from the post of MLA here.

From the Congress point of view, this by-election is a big challenge for Bhupendra Hooda and his MP son Deepender Hooda. By winning this election, Hooda wants to confirm the claim of making himself the CM face in the 2024 assembly elections.
