The big one in the ABP Live Auto Awards 2024 goes to the striking new Hyundai Verna, which has beaten a long list of capable cars to clinch this prestigious title. The new generation Verna sedan impressed us when we first tested it, and at our jury evaluation round, all of the judges noted its design and performance, while the features also made it better equipped than cars costing twice as much.
Design
The new Verna looks sleek and has a radical styling theme while changing the conventional sedan shape’s norms. The talking point is the light bar, which stretches across the entire front and at night, it looks like a spaceship while also pulling back buyers into the sedan shape with its looks. However, judges were also impressed with the spacious interiors thanks to a longer wheelbase, but the design with a unique switchable panel for controls also stole the limelight. Other unique features include heated and cooled seats plus a sunroof along with connected car technologyl. Then, there is the addition of ADAS, which is a crucial feature that adds to the safety of not only the drivers but also the passengers.
1.5l Turbo Petrol Engine
In terms of driving, the Verna again scored with its 1.5l turbo petrol engine, which has the highest power output in its class, while it also comes with manual as well as automatic options. There are drive modes that alter the dynamic behaviour, while the automatic has paddle shifters, too. Compared to its predecessor, the new Verna is more agile yet comfortable while carving a fine balance between being a fun-to-drive sedan and being a family car. Multi-faceted, the Hyundai Verna walks away with the coveted Car of the Year Award. Congratulations, Hyundai!
