People in the business world recognize Srichand Parmanand Hinduja by the name of SP. He was the eldest of four brothers.

Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, SP Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group, passed away at the age of 87. He breathed his last in London on Wednesday. He was ill for some time. According to some media reports, he was suffering from dementia. His wife Madhu died on January 6 this year. SP was the eldest of the four Hinduja brothers.

Born in Karachi, took over business after father’s death
SP was born in 1935 in Karachi to a business family. After Parmanand Hinduja passed away in 1971, his sons took over the family legacy. He started the business of film distributor in Mumbai. The first success came from the international distribution of the film ‘Sangam’. After this he went on to achieve success.

Group Headquarters shifted from Iran to London after Islamic Revolution
The headquarters of the Hinduja Group remained in Iran for nearly 60 years. When SP Hinduja joined the ancestral business in 1952, the group exported carpets and dry fruits from Iran and imported cloth and tea from India.

After the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the Hinduja Group shifted its headquarters to London. After this the group established a finance company ‘Hinduja Bank’ in Switzerland.
