Coimbatore: The first additional district judge court on Thursday sentenced two people to life imprisonment for murdering a 45-year-old man at Irugur in 2019.
A court source identified the convicts as 29-year-old N Sathishkumara resident of Rasipalayam near Sulur, and 33-year-old N Chandran alias Chandru, a native of Namakkal district.
“Sathishkumar had given 4 lakh to his colleague Muruganantham, a resident of Irugur, to start a computer numerical control machining unit after he promised to make him a business partner. Later, Muruganantham asked Sathishkumar to work as an operator at the unit first, before making him a business partner. When Sathishkumar was denied the partnership, he demanded Muruganantham to return 4 lakh,” the source said.
When Muruganantham refused to pay him back, Sathishkumar hatched a conspiracy with Chandran to finish him off. “On November 19, 2019, Sathishkumar consumed liquor with Muruganantham and dropped him at his residence. Later, he, along with Chandran, strangulated Muruganantham,” the source said. TNN
