74.05% Voting in Himachal: Highest 85.20% in Doon assembly seat, lowest 62.53% in Shimla Urban; Voting percentage will increase by including postal ballot

91 and 92 year old voters who voted

75.05 percent voting was done on 68 seats in Himachal Pradesh. After the counting of ballot papers, this time’s voting can break all previous records. The highest voter turnout of 79.07% was recorded in 5 assembly seats in Sirmour district, while the lowest voter turnout was 70.50% in tribal district Kinnaur.

The people of Doon assembly constituency of Solan district have left everyone behind in voting. Here 85.20% people cast their votes. On the other hand, Shimla, which is one of the most literate cities in the country, once again proved to be a failure in the polling. Shimla Urban seat saw the lowest voter turnout of 62.53%.

Solan district with 76.82% voting followed by Sirmaur, Una at third with 76.69% and Kullu district at fourth with 76.15% voting. There can be a slight increase in the voting percentage after accurate information about voting from very remote areas of the state.

Now EVM in strong room

Barring a few incidents, the polling process has been completed peacefully in the state. Everywhere EVM machines were kept under tight security in strong rooms. There will be tight security guard outside the strong room for 24 hours till the counting is over. Similarly, security will also be monitored through CCTV cameras.

412 candidates in fray in Himachal
There are 412 candidates in the fray from Himachal. Now their fate has been imprisoned in EVMs. There were about 56 lakh voters in these elections. Of these, 28 lakh 54 thousand 945 are males, 27 lakh 37 thousand 845 females and 38 third gender voters. Counting of votes will take place on December 8.​

75.57% polling was held in 2017

In the year 2017, there was a record 75.57% voter turnout including ballot paper. The vote percentage in 2012 elections was 73.5 per cent, 71.61 in 2007, 74.51 per cent in 2003 and 71.23 per cent in 1998. That is, the voting percentage is increasing in every election in the state. This is a good sign for this festival of democracy.
