61 girl students of Khuntpani Kasturba Hostel in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand went out in the middle of the night to complain. Reached Chaibasa DC (DM) office at around 5 am after walking 17 kms. The girl students were worried about the hostel warden and security.
Local MP Geeta Koda came to know about 61 girl students reaching DC office together. She reached the spot and informed the DC and the officers of the education department of the district over phone. The officers of the education department came. Listened to the complaints of the girl students and assured action. All the girl students were sent to the hostel by vehicles. There, an attempt was made to understand the problems of the girl students by meeting with the warden and teachers.
The girl students had reached the DC office by walking for about three hours in the night. Here she sat on the steps of the office.
Questions raised on school security
The girl students are from class 6th to class 11th. The girl students had left the hostel around 2 pm on Sunday night. Reached DC office around 5 pm. They allege that the residential school management is not paying attention to their problems. When they complain, they are intimidated. There are eight CCTV cameras installed in the campus, but all are switched off.
Locks were earlier installed at the gate of hostel, school and boundary. Now all have been opened. For the safety of 469 girl students, two female guards are posted during the day and one male guard at night, but the guard posted at night keeps sleeping.
No action should be taken against the school guard and teacher
The girl students of Kasturba Residential School have demanded that their studies be completed. The warden should be replaced. The shortcomings of the school should be removed. Special attention should be paid to security. The girl students have also demanded that no action should be taken against any teacher and guard of the school for walking out and complaining. The chairman and head of the school management committee have also agreed that there are many shortcomings in the school, which should be removed.
Similar complaints were received earlier also, but those problems were not resolved in time. If the education department had solved these problems in time, then today the girls of the school would not have come out and complained like this.

Serious allegations on the warden, charges Rs 5 as cleaning fee
The girl students have made serious allegations against the school warden Sushila Toppo. Girl students have told that in the name of cleanliness, 5 rupees are charged every month. If not given, sit-ups are made 50 to 100 times.
Forced cleaning of toilets, drains and filth is done. Food is not right. The school is pressured not to miss or complain.
The chief said, I am being accused
Chief Gono Bansing said that even after complaining, he had to face the misbehavior of the DEO in-charge of the district. Now I am being accused that I have done all this. The DEO has also threatened to remove him from the post of chief. I have no hand in this matter.
The girls were angry with the disorder of the school. Earlier also he had complained, no action was taken, so he had to do this. The girl students also said that many officers are threatening them too.
Complaint was made earlier also, no action was taken
This was not the first time that girl students had arrived here. Even 7 days ago, all the girl students had come out to complain, but the people of the village stopped them. The girl students say that she has been troubled for a long time. Had these problems been resolved earlier, they would not have had to take such a step.
In-charge DEO said – DC has been informed
In this regard, DEO in-charge of West Singhbhum, Lalan Singh has said that information about the problems of girl students has been taken after meeting in the school. DC Anyan Mittal will be informed about this. He assured that the problem of girl students would be resolved. DSE of the district Abhay Kumar Seal said that the investigation is being done after getting the information of the whole matter.
