The incessant rains in Haryana have now started creating havoc. Most of the devastation is happening in the GT road belt of the state. Along with the cities, 600 villages here are submerged in rain water. Home Minister Anil Vij’s home district Ambala has sunk up to 40%.

Rivers flowing above the danger mark
Due to incessant rains, all the rivers of the state are flowing above the danger mark. Due to rise in the water level, the water of Ufanai Tangri, Markanda and Ghaggar river has been filled in the surrounding area. More than 400 people trapped in houses built on the banks of Tangri river were rescued in Ambala on Sunday night. The rescue work here continued till late Monday evening. In Barot village of Kaithal, due to breaking of Rajwaha, the fields were flooded. There is a danger of flood in 18 villages due to Ghaggar river passing through Guhla-Cheeka area.

In Kurukshetra, 66 officers, patwaris and village secretaries have been fielded. The water of Saraswati river has filled many areas. The highest rainfall was recorded in Ismailabad region at 242 and Pehowa at 184 mm.

In many villages of Yamuna Nagar, people have been sent to safer places by tractor trolleys. More than 60 colonies of the city are submerged. The water level of Hathini Kund barrage reached 3 lakh cusecs on Monday night.

9 people have died so far
The bus of Himachal Pradesh Depot overturned in the water of Markanda river on Jagadhri Highway in Mullana, Ambala. 27 people aboard the bus were rescued with the help of a crane. At the same time, a sleeping couple died due to house collapse in Sagga village of Karnal.

The lives of 4 children sleeping outside the house were saved. One person died after his bike slipped in Durana village of Ambala. An 11-year-old student died due to drowning in a pool built in Pilkhanwala village of Yamunanagar.

A person planting paddy died due to lightning in Sudhail village of Yamuna Nagar. In Binjalpur in Ambala, a person got swept away in the water along with his bike. In Pinjore’s Deval Valley, 3 people, including a brother and sister, who were sleeping in a slum, died due to falling debris.

Food and drink crisis deepens
Due to the rains in the mountains, all the rivers including Yamuna have reached above the danger mark, affecting hundreds of villages. Lakhs of acres of crops have been submerged in the districts due to the water of the rivers coming in the fields.

At the same time, the crisis of electricity, water and food has arisen in front of thousands of people. Tangri, Markanda and Ghaggar rivers have wreaked havoc in Ambala. River water has entered more than 400 villages here.

In Panipat too, the water level of the Yamuna river has crossed the danger mark and about 20,000 acres of crops in the surrounding area have been submerged. Also, more than 18 villages are under flood.

More than 33 trains including Vande Bharat canceled
More than 33 passenger trains, including Vande Bharat, have been canceled due to water-logging on railway tracks in Ferozepur and Ambala divisions. The route of more than 25 trains was changed and sent towards the destination. For the second consecutive day, the movement of 7 trains remained suspended on the Kalka-Shimla railway line.

7 National Highway Blocks of Haryana
Ambala-Chandigarh, Ambala-Saharanpur, Ambala-Delhi Ambala-Jalandhar, Ambala-Hisar, Ambala-Yamunanagar National Highway and Ambala-Panchkula via Barwala Highway have been completely closed. Chandigarh’s connectivity with Delhi has been cut off due to the closure of the highway. Issuing an alert, the National Highway Authority has appealed to the drivers not to travel.
