6 untold stories of Kanpur violence: Muslims robbed Muslim shop, people had to throw stones to save lives

I was going to the market with my daughter. He had just left the house for some distance when suddenly there came the sound of screaming and shouting of people. Going forward a little, the sound of firing was also heard. Suddenly a crowd of thousands of people appeared in front of us. We were trembling with fear. My daughter was crying. We ran back home gasping and running.

The crowd was behind us, they started throwing stones at our houses. As soon as we went inside the house, we closed all the doors. A woman who saw the violence that took place in Kanpur in front of her eyes said these things.

Somebody’s shop was robbed, some got injured and some ran away after saving their lives with great difficulty. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to 6 people 24 hours after the incident. Stone pelting started on us even in the houses. To save our lives, we also had to throw stones from the front. She said, ‘A policeman came and left after seeing. We are killing people and they have no meaning. Later the force came and pacified the matter.

Aman Batham, who does a private job, lives in Chandeshwar Hatte. He had come to his house for lunch in the afternoon. Then some people surrounded him and attacked him with stones. He also suffered injuries on his leg and shoulder. He said, ‘Were wearing a helmet, just because there was no head injury. Lucky to have survived.

Naved used to run a confectionery shop. “When the ruckus started, confectionery items were being loaded for the shop. Suddenly a crowd came running from the front and started robbing the car. Somehow we pulled down the shutter of the shop, otherwise they would have looted our entire shop.

5. We were 10 people and there was a crowd of thousands in front
Local resident Sanjay Shukla was also injured in the stone pelting. He told that there were hardly 10 to 12 men in the house. While we were trying to escape, a stone hit our head. Arrived at the hospital and got treatment. Around 6 people are injured near the hand. All are being treated in the hospital.
