30% posts of teachers in government schools are vacant: Haryana Minister – Henry Club

Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar told the Vidhan Sabha on Friday that more than 30 percent posts of teachers in government schools in Haryana are currently vacant.

Responding to a question by Independent MLA Balraj Kundu, the Minister informed that at present 84,322 teachers, including guest teachers, are posted in government schools against the sanctioned strength of over 1.2 lakh posts, leaving a gap of 36,644 teachers. If the requirements of government schools are taken into account, there is a shortage of 38,476 teachers as there are currently 84,322 teachers working against the requirement of 1.22 lakh.

Expressing concern over the vacancies, Kundu said that about 10,000 posts are lying vacant in the health department as well. Kundu said: “What kind of good governance is this? How will children get education in the absence of teachers? If there is a shortage of nurses and doctors, how will the patients be treated?”

On his part, Gurjar informed the House that the Education Department has already sent a request to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of 7,631 teachers, besides initiating the process for recruitment of retired teachers and also through outsourcing policy. . There are 14,491 government schools and 10,460 private schools in the state. There is also a shortage of non-teaching staff in government schools. This category has 3,165 employees against the sanctioned strength of 5,145.
