A two-year-old child died in a leopard attack on Sunday in Gujarat’s Amreli. This is the third incident of animal attack by children in Amreli village in a week. Earlier on Monday, a three-year-old child had died in a leopard attack. The next day, on Tuesday, the lioness killed a five-month-old cub.
The latest incident took place in Katar village under Rajula range forest. The child was sleeping with his family at the time of the accident. The leopard grabbed the child by the neck and took it to the nearby bushes. As soon as the family members raised an alarm, the leopard ran away leaving the child there. The family members took the child to the hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead.

On May 8 and 9, two children were killed by a lioness and a leopard in two separate incidents in Amroli district. One child who died in these attacks was only five months old, while the other was three years old. A 2-year-old child has lost his life in the May 14 incident.
First event: Deputy Conservator of Forests Jayan Patel said that the first incident is from Karjala village of Savarkundla taluka. A three-year-old child died in a leopard attack here on Monday night. After the incident, the forest department staff locked the leopard in a cage.

Second event: The second incident took place near Khara village in Liliya taluka of the district. Here on Tuesday morning a laborer family was working in the fields. He had put his five-month-old child to sleep under a tree in the field. Then a lioness took the child away.
When the family did not see the child under the tree, they started looking for him. After some time, the child’s head was found lying about half a kilometer away from the spot. Jayan Patel told that based on the footprints present on the spot and the statement of the local people, we believe that the lioness attacked the child.
