The photo below is of the doll. She hails from a tehsil of Unnao district. Age is 11 years. Now the mother of a child. Why? Because on February 13, 5 boys from her neighborhood gang-raped her. She fainted while crying in the cemetery. When I regained consciousness, the body was ragged from everywhere, covered in blood. She reached home staggering. 9 months have passed since the incident. Now Gudiya has a 22-day-old baby in her lap.

Went to the neighborhood to get sugar, the boys took them away
The story begins 244 days ago. Gudiya was going to the shop to get sugar for the house. The shop was about 300 meters away from the house. The distance was also short, there was no fear. People also knew each other. Still Gudiya did not return home for an hour. Because on the way, 5 boys took him forcibly and took him to the cemetery. Gang raped and ran away leaving him in agony.
It’s been more than an hour. When Gudiya did not return home, the search began. Mother and father started running around and searching. He also called around the cemetery but there was no answer. Because the doll had fainted from unbearable pain. He regained consciousness after two hours. His clothes were stained with blood. As soon as she stumbled, she reached home. Everyone asked questions over and over again. She could not say anything.
It was morning. The doll sat silently. Mother asked again, “What happened?” Gudiya hugged him and started crying. Mother handled him and said, tell me what happened right? Gudiya did not remain silent this time. Taking the names of five boys from the village itself, he said, “All of them have done dirty work with me.” The mother could not believe that these boys living next to the house could do this. He beat his head. Took the daughter to the police station. On hearing the gang rape, the police became active and arrested three accused.
This is the courtyard where Gudiya used to play. But after the accident, this courtyard is deserted. Gudiya now just sits silently in one corner.
If there was pain in Gudiya’s stomach, the doctors said – there is only swelling
About a month after the incident, Gudiya felt severe pain in her stomach. The family members reached the district hospital in Unnao. There was a rape case, so the police also reached. Gudiya had an ultrasound. When the report came, the doctors told that Gudiya has swelling in her stomach, hence the pain. She was never told about the pregnancy. She kept taking medicine to reduce the swelling.
Gudiya’s little body was cringing in pain
Gudiya wanted to forget everything slowly but the unbearable pain in her stomach kept reminding her of everything. Was taking anti-inflammatory medicine for a month but she did not get any relief. His little body began to tremble with pain. One day when she woke up in the morning, she started vomiting. The mother mixed sugar in water and gave it to the doll. When she got some relief, she fell asleep. But now it is happening every day.
Sometimes he would vomit, sometimes he felt dizzy. Mother took him to the doctor. The doll was checked again. When the reports came, the ground slipped under the feet of the mother. A one and a half month old little life was growing in Gudiya’s stomach.

Told Gudiya she has a stone in her stomach
The parents could not handle themselves after listening to the child. Gudiya’s father said, “After the rape, the whole village turned against us. No one supported us. People used to taunt as they came. But we were trying to forget all this. But having a child in Gudiya’s stomach will also take away all our remaining respect.”
The mother told, “We have suffered but how do we tell our 11-year-old girl that she is going to become a mother. So lied to him. Keep telling him that he has a stone in his stomach that is why this pain is happening.
She further says that on one hand we kept lying to Gudiya, on the other we kept trying to make her child fall. But we did not get permission.
The doctor said that the doll is still very young and the child in her stomach has also become one and a half months old. Now getting an abortion can put Gudiya’s life in danger. The mother said that we did not want to play with the life of our doll, so let the child grow in her stomach.
The family was saddened to hear that a boy is born.
20 September. Around 3 o’clock in the night. As usual, everything was calm in the hospital. The patients were sleeping in their respective beds. Suddenly there was a sound of shouting at the hospital gate. Doctor, please save my baby girl. She is moaning with stomach ache. The girl was struggling between consciousness and unconsciousness. Hearing the sound of mother’s scream, the doctor reached there. Saw the girl’s stomach was bloated. The mother kept pleading but did not admit her child in the night. After a lot of pleas, he was admitted at 11 in the morning.
21 September. At around 12 noon, screams resonated in the hospital ward. The doll became a mother. She gave birth to a boy. Hearing this, the girl’s mother was crying. Father was standing nearby. Instead of happiness on his face, there was anger in his mind and worry about taking care of the child.
Gudiya’s mother said, we give milk to the child
When we reached Gudiya’s house, she was sitting silently beside the child. He didn’t care about himself or the child. On asking us something, the doll would answer in a low voice and then it would be silent. Her mother said, “The doll is now calm like this. Sometimes she would feed the child, then she would sit quietly. She says, “The doll is still small, so we take care of the child. We give him milk. What is the fault of this child in what happened, so we will take care of it for the rest of our lives.
The role of the police in this case is also doubtful.
3 out of 5 accused who vandalized Gudiya are in jail for 8 months. Gudiya’s father says, “One of the three people arrested by the police is innocent. We also told the police but they did not listen. While three other accused are roaming freely in the village itself. Still the police did not arrest them. Those boys keep threatening to kill Gudiya continuously.
The bag written ‘Sab Padhe Sab Badhe’ will never move forward
This is a doll bag. It is written ‘Read a lot, go ahead’, but now Gudiya will never be able to go to school.
The one-room doll house has a peg on the right. His school bag is hung in it. It is written in the bag, read all – grow all. But Gudiya can no longer read and grows up to read. Because at the age at which he was supposed to play, there is a child lying in his lap. She is afraid that if she goes to school, they will kill people.
Mother says, “Since this accident happened, I have neither eaten my stomach nor slept peacefully at night. Our house is at the back of the village. Being afraid, no one should come in the night and kill us. Gudiya also does not say anything while waking up, but while sleeping, her fear wakes up. She cries and cries. He had to cling to himself and put him to sleep. Whether it is day or night, now we never leave Gudiya alone for a moment.”
