Parambir Singh had accused former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extorting Rs 100 crore. The Maharashtra government had formed a committee on 30 March 2021 to investigate this allegation.

There has been a shocking revelation about former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, who appeared after missing for several days. Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that he had called Parambir for questioning after he found an explosive-laden Scorpio from outside Antilia. When Deshmukh interrogated the former police commissioner in front of three additional chief secretaries about the explosives, he was ‘trembling’.

Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said this before the Justice Kailash Chandiwal Commission probing the 100 crore recovery case. Deshmukh has claimed that after being asked strictly, Parambir had said, ‘I don’t know what kind of explosive-laden car was parked outside Mukesh Ambani’s house.

All these allegations have been leveled by Parambir Singh on Anil Deshmukh. Chandiwal Commission is investigating this.

Parambir did not want the case to go to ATS
Deshmukh further said, “We also asked him how he was not aware of the incident when Sachin Vajhe was his favorite and close officer. I was then suggested by several senior officials that the matter be handed over to the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). However, Parambir Singh opposed this saying that the investigation should be left to the Mumbai Police.

Vajhe removed from CIU after Parambir’s statement
Deshmukh further informed the Chandiwal Commission that after Parambir’s statement, I decided to hand over the matter to ATS on 6 March 2021 and Sachin Vajhe was removed from CIU on the same day. This statement of Anil Deshmukh has also been confirmed by Yogesh Desai, the lawyer of sacked API Sachin Wajhe, the main accused in the Antilia case.

Parambir had made the allegation, now the investigation is going on
Parambir Singh had leveled allegations of extortion of Rs 100 crore against former state home minister Anil Deshmukh. A one-member inquiry committee was constituted by the Maharashtra government on 30 March 2021 to conduct a judicial inquiry into the allegation. In the same case, in a notification issued on May 3, the state government has given the powers of a civil court to the inquiry committee.

Parambir may appear before the investigation team again
Parambir Singh’s allegation is being probed by a one-member investigation team of former Justice Kailas Uttamchand Chandiwal. This committee called him several times to record Parambir’s statement. But he did not show up even once. After this, for the first time he was fined 5 thousand, then 25 and 50 thousand rupees. A bailable warrant was issued against him. After this, he appeared before the commission in November and presented evidence of his allegations. After the new revelations of Deshmukh, the commission may once again call him for questioning.

Committee only has the power to recommend action

Earlier in July 2021, Parambir Singh had questioned the manner in which the committee was set up. This was dismissed by Justice Chandiwal and said that the inquiry committee is doing exactly what the CBI is doing with reference to the investigation into the allegations leveled by Parambir Singh and sacked API Sachin Vajhe. Justice Chandiwal said, “The commission is just a statutory authority and it is not going to pronounce any judgment. We can only make recommendations.”
