সাহায্য More than Tk 400 crore assistance to the families of dead farmers under Krishakbandhu project

The state government has launched Krishakbandhu project to help the farmers. This time, under that project, the state agriculture department has helped the families of the dead farmers with a grant of more than Tk 400 crore.

According to state administration sources, more than 20,000 farming families in the state have benefited from the government’s financial assistance. So far more than 2600 families in East Midnapore have received this financial assistance. Several other district workers have also benefited from it. This financial assistance has been given to 908 families in North 24 Parganas and 1,031 farming families in South 24 Parganas. The state agriculture department has also provided financial assistance to more than 2,000 families in Malda, West Midnapore and Murshidabad.

It may be mentioned that the Krishakbandhu project was launched by the state government in 2019. After the launch of this project, in case of death of a farmer, his family has been asked to provide one lakh government assistance at a time. However, in that case some conditions have been given by the government. As a condition, the farmers have been told to have their own land. Besides, it has been said that the age of farmers should be between 18 to 60 years. The government has asked the local BDO office to apply. Many such applications were submitted. Verification at block level found errors in some applications. As a result, they are canceled.
