After Yamuna in Delhi, now the water level of Ganga river has reached near the danger mark in many districts of Uttarakhand and UP. On Sunday, the water level of Ganga in Haridwar reached 293.15 metres, while the danger mark is 294 metres. The river has crossed the warning level of 293 metres. Because of this, an alert has been issued in the areas adjacent to the river.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced to give 10 thousand rupees to the flood affected families. He said that poor families living on the banks of Yamuna have suffered. In this case, they will be given financial help.

The water level of Yamuna river continued to decline on Sunday as well and the water level was recorded at 205.50 meters at 11 pm on Saturday. The danger mark of the river is at 205.33 metres. Still flowing above the danger mark. It is expected to come down soon, officials said.

Here, the LG office of Delhi issued a statement. It said that a committee has been formed for flood control in Delhi. There was no meeting of this committee for the last two years. The CM of Delhi is its chairman.

According to the LG office, the meeting of this committee should have been held in June, which was not done. In this, officers of the Central Government, State Government, Army and Central Water Commission are involved. Instructions are issued regarding flood control only after this meeting, but the state government issued instructions without any meeting and preparations.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rubbished these allegations. The AAP said that a meeting of the committee was held on July 6, which was chaired by Revenue Minister Atishi.

  • Delhi Traffic Police said some roads including Bhairon Marg have been opened for traffic after there is some improvement in the flood situation.
  • Water has been removed from two water treatment plants in Delhi and the process of drying the machines is underway. If all goes well, water supply will start from today.
  • NDRF said that in the last 2-3 days, 6345 people including 912 animals were rescued from the flood affected areas of Delhi-NCR. The rescued animals also include the country’s costliest bull Pritam. Its cost is around one crore rupees.
