The wine is a 1989 Macallan single malt, which spent 32 years maturing in oak casks at Macallan’s Scotland distillery before being bottled in 2021. The auction house says it is pale gold and has a sweet taste with notes of apple.

According to Lyon and Turnbull, it was sold to an international collector on Wednesday.
The Intrepid project was created as a collaboration between Fah Mai, a Thailand-based investment company, and Rosvin Holdings, a London-based firm that invests in whiskey and other spirits.
The auction house says the project’s founder, Daniel Monk, was inspired by his father’s “adventure, passion for exploration.” The label on the bottle features 11 explorers, including Ranulf Fiennes and Robin Knox-Johnston.
Leon says the auction will support a number of charities, including Marie Curie and the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
