Woman murdered in Patiala Gurdwara: She was drinking alcohol in Dukh Nivaran Sahib; Devotee shot, serviceman injured

A woman was shot dead by a devotee on Sunday night after she consumed liquor inside the premises of Gurudwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib in Punjab’s Patiala. A serviceman has also been injured in this incident. The accused devotee has been caught by the police. Who has been identified as Nirmaljit Singh of Urban State Patiala.

The deceased woman has been identified as Parvinder Kaur (32) of Patiala. The incident took place around 10 pm. She was drinking alcohol inside the gurudwara. The Gurdwara staff tried to stop him.

They were trying to take him to the gurudwara manager’s room for questioning. Meanwhile, he tried to hit back at the employees with a bottle of liquor.

After the incident, Nirmaljit Singh did not make any attempt to escape and surrendered.

Holding the woman, the servants were interrogating her when devotee Nirmaljit came there and started firing. Nirmaljit Singh fired 5 shots from his licensed revolver. Out of which the woman got three bullets. While Sevadar Sagar Kumar also got a bullet. The woman died on the spot.

Sagar was taken to Rajindra Hospital. Where his treatment is going on. He has a bullet wound in his stomach.

The SHO of Anaj Mandi police station said that a case of murder and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused. The revolver of the accused has also been seized, with which he shot the woman.

The police have not yet given clear information about the arrest. But according to sources, the accused himself surrendered before the police after the murder. The police is examining the CCTV footage to verify the facts.

Close relatives of the accused say that Nirmaljit Singh Saini was divorced from his wife some time back. He was under stress after the divorce and was regularly coming to the Gurudwara to pay obeisance.
