The incident took place on the night of 25 October i.e. the day after Diwali. Sanjeev Gupta lived with wife Shobhita in Gulmohar Vihar of Naubasta in Kanpur. Shobhita committed suicide by hanging herself in the presence of her husband. Father-in-law Sushil Gupta, mother-in-law, Jeth Shivam and Jethani also live in the house. The maternal side of the woman has given a complaint to the police of dowry harassment and forcing her in-laws to commit suicide. Husband sent it to in-laws after making a video
Shobhita’s parents live in Kidwai Nagar E-Block of Kanpur. Father Rajkishore Gupta said, “Shobhita was married to Sanjeev Gupta on February 18, 2017. Sanjeev has a mobile shop in Sagar Market. Since marriage, the husband and in-laws were harassing and harassing them for dowry. On October 25, he was so harassed that he committed suicide.”

The father said, “The sad thing is that when my daughter was hanging, son-in-law Sanjeev kept making videos. After that he sent the video. After about a quarter of an hour we reached there, the daughter was lying on the bed. Her body should be cold. It was over. We took her to the hospital. There the doctors declared the daughter brought dead.”
The husband says that Shobhita was repeatedly threatening to hang her by making a noose of the dupatta, had made this video to show her actions.

Sobhita’s relatives told that on October 25, at 12.48 pm, Sanjeev had sent a video of him hanging. After this, when we were reaching, only after an hour he gave the news of Shobhita’s suicide by hanging.

Accused husband said – video made to show antics
The police have taken the accused husband Sanjeev Gupta into custody. During interrogation, Sanjeev told that he had a fight with wife Shobhita on October 25. After this, she was making a noose in the fan saying to hang her, then made a video of her and sent it to her parents. During this, she did not hang herself and came down.
Shobhita’s family members have released a video. It has demanded justice and action against the in-laws.
The husband told the police that while sending the video to the in-laws, he asked them to see the actions of their daughter. Sanjeev also said that after a while on the same day there was a fight again between the two. After this, Shobhita hanged herself in the room. The husband also told the police that he felt that the wife was threatening or pretending to be hanged. However, he died after some time.
Shobhita’s father informed the police that her husband called and informed about the suicide of the daughter.
Police said that the woman committed suicide after a domestic dispute. The postmortem of the dead body has been done. The report is awaited. Forensic examination of the room has been done. The statements of the family are being recorded.
