In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, a man allegedly killed his mother and 12-year old son by poisoning them and then died by hanging himself at their home.

The accused man Tarun Chouhan’s wife was not at home at the time of the crime as she was visiting the Khatu Shyam Ji temple in Rajasthan’s Sikar, police said. Upon being informed about the tragedy, she has been reported to be travelling back home, NDTV report quoted.

The family’s domestic help was the first person to witness the dead bodies, as per police. The house help reached their home on Sunday morning and found Tarun’s body hanging from the ceiling and the bodies of his mother and son were found on the bed.

Following the shocking discovery, she informed the neighbours and police were informed.

The three deaths sparked panic in the neighbourhood and the neighbours said that Tarun’s mother was not keeping well for a long time.

It has also been noted that debt burden could also be the reason behind the tragic incident. One of the neighbours, while commenting about the incident, said, “We don’t know why he was upset. Tarun had taken a Pepsi dealership a while ago and suffered heavy losses. He had then sold a part of his house to clear the debt. We don’t know what happened now. This will come to light once his wife returns. We would also know if she went by herself or he asked her to go as part of his plan.”

Speaking about the incident, senior police officer Suraj Rai told NDTV that the family had four members – Tarun Chouhan, his wife, his son and his mother. He said, “Tarun’s wife left for Khatu Shyam ji temple yesterday. It appears that Tarun first poisoned his son and his mother and then died by suicide. Probe is on.” The officer also added that the autopsy report will confirm the cause of death.
