Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh has said that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is welcome to contest the elections.
However, Singh, a Lok Sabha MP from the Mandi seat, said the National Award-winning actor should decide from which party she would contest the polls, Times of India reported.
She also said the actor should contest elections if she thinks she is capable of winning.
The Mandi lawmaker said Congress is ready for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and party high command will decide party candidates in Himachal Pradesh.
Ranaut, 35, who recently appeared in recently-released Tejas, had earlier expressed her interest in contesting in the elections. She told the media, “Shri Krishna ki kripa rahi toh ladenge (If Lord Krishna blesses, I will fight).”
She had said she wants to serve the people of Himachal Pradesh in any possible capacity, even if it required her to join politics.
The actor, who hails from Manali, said it will be a matter of pride for her if she gets the opportunity to work for the betterment of the people of her home state.
“Whatever will be the situation… If the government wants my participation, then I will be very much open to all kinds of participation… It will be my honour if the people of Himachal Pradesh give me a chance to serve them. So, definitely, it will be my good luck,” Kangana, said.
