Water supply consumers in Hyderabad get 13 months’ bills waived off | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: A new year gift to the water supply consumers in Greater Hyderabad, after the Telangana government has decided to waive off 13 months water bills, from December 2020 to December 2021, at a time.
Accordingly, the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) special chief secretary, Arvind Kumar, on Thursday, sent to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB).
The HMWS&SB while gearing up to issue 13 months water bills to the consumers, who are not linked their Aadhar card details, to avail 20-KL (kilo liters) free water supply scheme, from January 2022, the Telangana government has issued orders, on Thursday.
Over 5.50 lakh out of 9.60 lakh consumers, will get benefit due to the decision to waive off water bills in the Greater Hyderabad limits.
Reason behind this decision is, the Telangana MA&UD minister, K Tarakarama Rao, who reviewed the progress and implementation of ‘20-KL Free water supply scheme’ and noticed that still many consumers are not yet completed the process of Aadhar link to their ‘Consumer Account Numbers’ (CANs).
In its orders, the MA&UD special chief secretary also said, “to recommence the water bills from January, 2022 in non-slums including slums, domestic-individuals, multi-storeyed buildings (MSBs), and domestic bulk/colonies.”
Water bills who have already paid can be adjusted in their monthly bills, issued from January 2022. Any bills pending for the period to December 2020, shall be issued separately, without clubbing it with present billing and without levying the interest and penalty for 13 months for the arrears as on 30/11/2020, said in MA&UD orders.
