Vivo may launch its first foldable smartphone next month – Times of India

Vivo is reportedly gearing to launch its first foldable smartphone next month. As per a report by Chinese website jiemian, the smartphone manufacturer is planning to launch a foldable smartphone, codenamed ‘Butterfly’ in April. As per the report, the foldable device will feature a ‘technological breakthrough’ in the hinge, which is the core component in any foldable device. The report further reveals that the smartphone will be benchmarked against Huawei and Samsung.
Known tipster Digital Chat Station also shared schematics of the upcoming foldable smartphone. As per image, the smartphone will have punch-hole camera on the cover screen. The image also reveals that the device will sport a quad camera setup with periscope lens at the rear. According to the schematics, the smartphone will have a clamshell design such as the Oppo Find N and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
As Digital Chat Station reveals that the smartphone will have hardware that would be “absolutely top-level”. Numerous reports suggest that the smartphone will have OLED displays on both sides and it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset under the hood.
Vivo has not yet revealed any details about the smartphone yet but it is expected that the first foldable smartphone from the company will be available in China first just like Oppo’s Find N. The device is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED outer display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The internal display is said to be 8-inches with a QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
