Bhubaneswar: The office of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) will remain closed till January 25 after some of its staff were found to be Covid positive.
“During this period, matters of extremely urgent in nature will only be taken up for hearing through virtual mode. For such urgent hearing the petitioners may contact over mobile phone number of private secretary to OHRC chairperson. Complaints/petitions can be filed through official email ohrc@nic.in only,” a notice issued by the OHRC on Monday stated.
Extremely urgent matters can be taken up/heard after obtaining permission from the Odisha Human Rights Commission chairperson. The parties/persons interested in virtual hearing should provide their mobile number and email ID well in advance, the notice added.
Rights activist Pradipta Nayak and Biswapriya Kanungo on Monday filed a petition before the commission after a human rights team was stopped from visiting Dhinkia on a factfinding mission on the alleged police atrocities on peaceful protestors. TNN
