Veteran Filmmaker Sawan Kumar Tak Hospitalised Owing To Critical Condition, Nephew Confirms

New Delhi: Veteran filmmaker and music composer Sawan Kumar Tak has been hospitalised and is in critical condition. The news was confirmed by his nephew, who shared that the filmmaker is in need of prayers. Sawan Kumar Tak has been suffering from lung-related ailments for long.

The veteran filmmaker is said to have launched actors like late Sanjeev Kumar and comedy king Mehmood in Bollywood. As per a report, he is admitted in the ICU of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.

Sawan Kumar debuted as a producer in 1967 with the film ‘Naunihal’. The film starring Sanjeev Kumar in the lead role, made its way to the National Awards that year as it received the Presidential mention. He later made his directorial debut in 1972 with ‘Gomti Ke Kinare’, starring legendary actress Meena Kumari. It also went on to become the last film of her acting career.

Sawan Kumar’s nephew Navin Kumar Tak told about his condition to ETimes. He said, “He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He’s had a history of lung-related ailments, but this time he’s serious and his heart is not in a good condition. We are asking the fans and followers for their prayers so that uncle can pull through this difficult time.”

Sawan has also had an illustrious career as a lyricist with several popular songs to his credit. He wrote the lyrics of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel’s debut film ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’. Along with this, he has also penned the lyrics of ‘Soutten’, ‘Soutten ki Beti’, ‘Bewaffa’ and many more. He has also been associated with several Bollywood films including Salman Khan starrer hit 90’s film ‘Sanam Bewafa’, as well as ‘Saajan Bina Suhagan’ and ‘Souten’.
