Following a paper leak, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has cancelled the Review Officer (RO)/ Assistant Review Officer (ARO) preliminary examination. The examination conducted for recruitment to 60244 posts of a police constable in the state now stands cancelled and a new date will be declared soon.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made an announcement regarding this on the microblogging site X. He said that a re-examination will be organized for UPPSC recruitment, which will happen within six months. He also said that culprits involved in the paper leak would be punished.

“Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has ordered to cancel the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 held on 11 February 2024 and to conduct it again in the next 06 months. Those who play with the sanctity of the examination will not be spared under any circumstances. The culprits of the youth will be given such punishment which will set an example,” the CM posted.

It is to be noted that like the constable recruitment, there were allegations of paper leak in the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 also. The RO, ARO recruitment examination was organized by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission on February 11. The exam includes three stages — prelims, mains, and skill tests. The preliminary exam holds a total of 200 marks, while the mains exam has 400.

Since then, the candidates have continuously alleged paper leaks in the examination and demanded its cancellation. After this, the government sought evidence from the candidates regarding the paper leak. Now it has been decided to cancel the preliminary examination and orders have been given to conduct the examination again. The UPPSC had also constituted an internal committee to investigate the case and submit a report to the commission.
