UP polls: Samajwadi Party promises interest free loans to farmers; Akhilesh Yadav takes ‘Anna Sankalp’ to defeat BJP | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday promised interest free loans for farmers and setting up of a revolving fund to pay sugarcane growers price of their produce within 15 days if voted to power in the 2022 assembly polls. The SP chief joined a group of farmer leaders from Lakhimpur to take the ‘Anna Sankalp‘ (pledge) to defeat the BJP in the election.
“We will make arrangements for disbursing interest free loans to farmers for agriculture purposes. A revolving fund will also be set-up to pay farmers the price of their produce within 15 days after them selling their yield,” Akhilesh said adding that the two announcements will figure prominently in the party’s election manifesto. “This apart, Minimum Support Price (MSP) will be announced for all the crops and free electricity will be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes,” the former UP CM said adding that all these announcements will be prominently covered in the manifesto. As when the would release its manifesto, he said it will be done after the ruling BJP comes out with its Sankalp Patra.
The SP chief also announced that all FIRs lodged against individuals in connection with farmers’ agitation against the three ‘black laws’ will also be withdrawn. This was apart from Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of each of the farmers killed during the agitation and a memorial in the name of those who lost their lives during the course of protest.
At the party office the SP chief joined hands with Tejindra Singh Birk, the farmer leader who was also injured in the Tikuniya violence in Lakhimpur, to take ‘Anna Sankalp’ (pledge) holding food grains in hands to defeat the ruling BKP in the 2022 elections. “We hereby take the pledge to work together to replace the ruling BJP in the government,” they said, holding rice and wheat in their hands.
The SP chief also announced that he will approach the Election Commission with pictures and photographs of how Covid-19 protocols were being violated by candidates and top leaders of the ruling BJP with impunity but no action was being initiated by the election observers despite news reports and visuals of these events available on the internet. “SP workers had an FIR slapped on them for a gathering inside the party office, these people (BJP leaders) are taking out processions and no action is being initiated neither against them nor against the local police.
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh had tweeted a news clip playing the video of BJP MLA from Amroha Mahendra Khadagvanshi walking through city roads in a huge procession with workers raising slogans about his victory in the assembly polls.
