UP elections: Time not in BJP’s favour, mistakes will lead to defeat in polls, says Akhilesh Yadav | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said time is powerful and it is no longer favouring the BJP due to which the party is making mistakes that will eventually lead to its defeat in the assembly elections.
Citing the recent raids on the premises of perfume trader Piyush Jain, Akhilesh said, “They wanted to target SP MLC Pushparaj Jain who is also a perfume trader, has houses in Kanpur, Kannauj and Mumbai. But officials conducted raids at the residence of another perfume businessman, Piyush Jain, believing that he was the person who launched the Samajwadi perfume.”
“Samay bada balwan hota hai… aur samay inka saath nahi de raha hai (Time is very powerful and it is not favouring them,” Akhilesh said while speaking at an event organised by a private news channel in Lucknow.
Recently, the income tax department raided the premises of perfume trader Piyush Jain in Kanpur, Kannauj and Mumbai and recovered over Rs 170 crore cash, 16 kilograms of gold of a foreign brand and several cans full of sandalwood oil. BJP leaders claimed that Piyush Jain had recently launched Samajwadi perfume.
However, the SP later clarified that the Samajwadi perfume was launched by party MLC Pushparaj Jain and that Piyush Jain was associated with the BJP.
Akhilesh claimed that the idea of conducting raids on the premises of Piyush Jain was floated by some officer in UP which was endorsed by “people sitting in Delhi” and then executed on the premises that the individual is an SP man.
“Even after he was found to be a BJP man, the party’s IT cell was tweeting photographs to push its propaganda,” he said.
On the issue of speculations that regional parties which have entered into an alliance with the SP might contest on the election symbol (of SP), Akhilesh said all regional parties would contest on their own symbol.
