UP assembly elections: Azad Samaj Party is an alternative to BSP, says party chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad | Agra News – Times of India

AGRA: Azad Samaj Party chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad on Monday pitched his new political outfit as an alternative to the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party and dubbed the latter as a “dry tree which is neither providing shelter nor fruits”.
Azad was in Mathura on Monday to seek votes for his party candidates contesting elections from Govardhan and Chhata constituencies — Vimal Kumar and Subrat Khan respectively.
On being asked about Dalit voters’ support with BSP, Aazad said the community had done a lot for it but now the political outfit is not in a situation to provide anything in return, as it has become outdated. “Neither is it able to provide shelter nor fruits,” he said without naming anyone.
While speaking to media persons, he said, “Change is the law of nature. If one tree becomes weak then an option should be available and Aazad Samaj party is available as an alternative.” He further said that people from the community should realise this and they should extend support to his party and make it powerful in Uttar Pradesh.
The Bhim Army chief, whose political outfit Azad Samaj party was launched in 2020, is seeking to establish itself as a defender of the rights of Dalits, other backward classes and minorities.
Attacking the Samajwadi Party, Aazad said that those who are established don’t want to give a chance to new people. He was replying to a query on alliance with Samajwadi Party in the 2022 assembly elections. He added, “Now our alliance is with the public as they will cast votes for us. Akhilesh ji can’t make our people MLA. We have to fight our own battle.”
