Ukraine Conflict: India Says Ready To Support De-Escalation Efforts, Calls For Return To Dialog

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed concern about the war and called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine and cautioned that the situation is in danger of spiraling into a major crisis.

“India is deeply concerned at the escalation of conflict in #Ukraine, incl targeting of infrastructure & civilian deaths. We reiterate escalation of hostilities is in no one’s interest. We urge immediate cessation of hostilities & urgent return to the path of diplomacy & dialogue,” foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a statement.

“India has consistently maintained since the beginning of the conflict that the global order is anchored in the principles of the UN Charter, international law and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states,” added the minister.
