Udaipur: Omicron infected man dies of post-Covid complications | Udaipur News – Times of India

The patient was brought to the MB Hospital attached to RNT Medical College with Covid-19 symptoms on December 15.

JAIPUR: A 73-year-old man, who had tested positive for Omicron variant of coronavirus, died after recovering from the infection.
The health department claimed that the elderly man, a resident of Savina area in Udaipur district, died of post-Covid complications, not Covid-19.
The patient was brought to the MB Hospital attached to RNT Medical College with Covid-19 symptoms on December 15.
“He had tested negative for Covid-19 on December 21. Even after the second test which was conducted on December 25, he had tested negative. He was declared recovered from Covid-19. But, due to post Covid complications, he remained admitted at the hospital,” said Dr Dinesh Kharadi, chief medical and health officer.
His sample was sent for gemone sequencing and the report was received by the Udaipur’s health department officials on December 25, at the time when he had recovered from Covid-19.
The patient had comorbidities which may have deterioriated his condition.
“He was suffering from comorbidities, including diabetes, hypertension and hypothyroidism,” said Dr Kharadi.
The health department conducted contact tracing of the deceased and did not find any person in his contact infected with Covid-19.
The health department took more details but they did not find any travel history or any contact with a foreign traveler in Udaipur.
Till date, the state has reported 69 cases of Omicron variant, of which four were found in Udaipur.
