Two stabbed in Ghaziabad after groups fight over Instagram post

Two boys were injured after a scuffle broke out between two groups over an Instagram post in the Kotwali area of Ghaziabad.

Two boys were stabbed after a minor altercation on social media platform Instagram turned violent in Ghaziabad’s Jassipura on Saturday. The incident has been reported from Kotwali police station limits in Ghaziabad.

A preliminary police probe reveals that a minor spat broke out between victims and a group of suspects on Instagram that led to an altercation and culminated in the stabbing incident. The victims were attacked with sharp weapons and they received grievous injuries.

After the brawl, the victims and the group reached the police station where the latter attacked the boys with sharp-edged weapons. The victims, who suffered multiple and deep wounds, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but when their health deteriorated, they were referred to GTB hospital in Delhi.

HUNT FOR ACCUSED ON

Police have identified the victims as Mohammad Rakib (17), and his friend Mohammad Rehan (18), both residents of Kaila Bhatta locality in Ghaziabad. It is being suspected that Rakib and Rehan were attacked by Ritik and his friends over a social media post.

Meanwhile, police said teams are trying to trace the group of suspects who attacked them and the suspects will be nabbed at the earliest.

Nipun Agarwal, superintendent of police, said, “The two boys suffered injuries during the incident and they were referred to a hospital in Delhi. Our teams are trying to trace the group of suspects who attacked them. The suspects will be nabbed at the earliest.”
