Two Die As Car Crashes Into An Electric Pole | Noida News – Times of India

GREATER NOIDA: A BCA student was among two persons who died after the car in which they were returning home from a birthday party hit a cyclist and then crashed into an electricity pole in Surajpur area of Greater Noida. Five others, including the cyclist, are battling grievous injuries in hospital.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the six persons in the car — most of them college students — were heavily drunk when the accident occurred near the police lines in Surajpur around 1.30am on Sunday.
The two men who died were identified as Deepak Rai (23), a Ballia resident who was pursuing BCA from a university in Gurgaon, and Pushpendra (33), who worked at a pharmaceutical company and was from Bijnor.
“Around 1.30am on Sunday, an i10 with six persons was hurtling down the road. They were all returning from a birthday party in Ghaziabad. As the car crossed the police lines, it first hit a cyclist. Unable to control the speeding car, the driver crashed it into a pole,” said Awdhesh Kumar, the SHO of Surajpur police station.
The car was being driven by Akash, a radiology student at Sharda University. The six men were returning after celebrating Akash’s birthday.
“A passerby informed the police about the accident, following which teams were rushed to the spot. The car was mangled. The police had to use cutters to bring out the six persons trapped inside,” Kumar added.
While Deepak and Pushpendra were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, the others were admitted. The injured were identified as Akash, who was behind the wheel, Rituraj Singh (24), who also studies radiology at Sharda University, Harsh Bhatnagar (22), a Btech student at Galgotias University in Greater Noida and Adarsh (22), who was from Bijnor. The injured cyclist, Ghamandiworks at a cardboard factory in Ecotech 3 area and was returning home when the car rammed him.
“We have not received any complaint so far. The passengers in the car were heavily drunk at the time of the accident. The bodies of the two men were handed over to the family after autopsy,” the SHO said.
