After becoming the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk is continuously announcing many changes to it. Now Twitter has released its monthly report. It has been told in the report that 52,141 accounts have been banned in the country. Twitter took this step after posting child sexual abuse, nudity and related material on the micro-blogging site.
These accounts have been closed between August 26 and September 25. According to reports, Twitter has also taken action on 1982 accounts supporting terrorism. On the other hand, Meta has also closed 26 lakh WhatsApp accounts in India. The company has taken this decision under IT Rule 2021.
157 complaints were received from Indian users
Twitter has said in its report that it had received 157 complaints from Indian users. According to the company, action has been taken on 129 URLs from these complaints received under the Grievance mechanism. These Twitter accounts are demanding suspension. These reports have been issued under the new IT Rule 2021. The company has said that all these have been resolved. Apart from this, necessary responses were sent to the users.
WhatsApp received 666 complaints in September
On the other hand, Meta has released the September 2022 report for the messaging app WhatsApp. The report says that 26 lakh WhatsApp accounts have been closed in India. According to the company, this messaging app is being modified with more responsibility on the social media platform. According to the company, WhatsApp has about 500 million users across the country. In September, 666 complaints were received from WhatsApp.
