Top Tech News Roundup: Poco F5 Set To Be Unveiled In India, More

Top tech headlines today (May 9) include the launch of the much-anticipated Poco F5 smartphone. Handset maker Poco is set to launch two smartphones, the Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro globally today, but only Poco F5 will make its way into India. The Poco F5 is the first smartphone to launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip and it will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It will be launching in India at 5:30 pm.

The Poco F5 is said to be priced at around Rs 28,000 for the base model, according to tipster Yogesh Brar, which means it would compete with mid-rangers such as the Iqoo Neo 7 and Motorola Edge 30 Pro, among others. However, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, Poco has quietly unveiled the F5 series in UAE and its full specs have been revealed. However, the prices are missing, which will be confirmed on May 9, coinciding with the global unveiling of the Poco F5 series.

The Poco F5 Pro has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and three memory combinations. The display is 6.67-inch AMOLED with WQHD+ resolution and 3200 x 1440 pixels with 526 PPI, which is the highest ever in a Poco smartphone. It may pack a 5,160mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. It is expected to sport a triple rear camera setup, with a 64-megapixel main sensor.

The vanilla Poco F5 has the mid-range Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip with a CPU at 2.9 GHz. Storage has been set at 256GB coupled with RAM of 8GB/12GB. The smartphone will come in two colourways — Carbon Black and Snowstorm White.

In terms of optics, the Poco F5 is expected to come with a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 64-megapixel primary snapper.
