COIMBATORE: The Tirupur city police arrested a man on Friday for murdering a wall painter last month.
The arrested person was identified as P Senthilkumar40, of Gandarvakottai in Pudukkottai district. He worked in a restaurant near the Old Bus Stand in Tirupur city and used to sleep in public places.
On February 20, when Senthilkumar was sleeping inside the Cotton Market Complex on Palladam Road, S Sridhar, 41, of Ariyalur district, a wall painter, disturbed him. Following a heated verbal fight, Senthilkumar fatally stabbed Sridhar with a knife.
The Tirupur south police registered a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Three police teams struggled to nab Senthilkumar as he kept on moving between Coimbatore, Erode, Trichy and Bengaluru. A special team caught him from Karur on Friday. Senthilkumar was brought to Tirupur and was remanded in judicial custody. TNN
