Microsoft is working on a new update for Windows 11 that will help users who are running the latest operating system on dated and inexpensive hardware, reports Techradar. The Windows 11 Build 22526 is currently available to members of the Insider early access program and comes with multiple enhancements and fixes.
Although most of the new enhancements are somewhat minor, Microsoft is using this new build to try out a new file location indexing system. The software giant hopes that this new system will help users to find out important files using File Explorer even faster.
The recently released Windows 11 came with several new performance enhancements, yet the File Explorer (which is a very essential feature) works very slow and is still prone to frequent crashes. One of the most notable problems is the slowness of the Search functionality. This functionality seems to take a long time to return relevant searches, mostly if you have stored a huge number of files in the built-in hard drive.
This new update is expected to help users cruise through vast quantities of files more quickly, which will eventually improve productivity. Moreover, it will be very helpful for users who will be running Windows 11 on cheap and dated devices. Budget devices with weak hardware usually suffer lengthy load times and performance falls.
Better file indexing is not the only upgrade that will be released in the upcoming Windows 11 update. The report also adds that other upgrades are expected to include wideband speech support which will improve the audio quality of voice calls if you are using products like Apple Airpods. This new update is also expected to come with a new “windowed” system to the popular Alt + Tab functionality.
In the meantime, Microsoft has activated its Credential Guard service to all business users as a default function. This function protects important data under a layer of virtualisation-based security.
Considering the new build of the latest OS is only available to the developers, it is unclear when the new features will be rolled out to the public. Nevertheless, these are all promising signs for the users who are struggling with issues related to File Explorers, especially in lower-end devices
