Today’s story is of Monalisa. Seeing the problems in public transport, he created such a business model that today lakhs of women are benefiting from it. After an incident that happened to her during pregnancy, Monalisa was determined to make public transport accessible to the common people. So let’s hear the story of Monalisa in her own words today…

I am Monalisa Thakur originally from Bihar. I spent my childhood in Patna where my father worked in the Animal Husbandry Department. There was an atmosphere of education in the house from the beginning, so I also got a chance. But a sudden accident at home forced me to choose a path. My mother died in this accident and father was admitted in ICU. So I chose a path for myself. This is the path of self-confidence and self-power. With the help of which I started a business while taking care of my family, which today is saving common people especially women from the troubles of public transport.

I got inspiration from my mother to do something good and big in life.

Mother taught to read, she herself did PhD after marriage

My mother got married at the age of 17-18 years. So she could not complete her studies. But he did not give up and soon started studying again. While studying after marriage, he completed his Ph.D. Papa also gave full support to mother. Seeing our mother inspired both of us sisters to do something in life. My mother was my first mentor. At one point when our family was in trouble, my mother started teaching in a school. We have learned a lot by watching our mother.

Managed both career and family

I completed my engineering from Prayagraj. After that I went to Bangalore to do MBA. Where a painful accident happened in the house during the internship itself. In which my mother died. Papa was admitted in ICU. The death of the mother, the responsibility of the father and younger sister battling for life in the hospital did not let me give up. I tried to take care of both my family and career. I was successful in this to a great extent. Today, when I look at the past, I find myself in a very good position.

my other way…

I have always believed that you have two paths in challenging times. Accepting defeat and getting entangled in it, the second moving out of it and moving forward. I chose another path. In the exams held a few days after the accident, I topped the entire college. Later I got placement in HCL. Slowly my family also started recovering. Papa’s health also started getting better.

In difficult times, I decided to fight him and move on. This decision proved to be the best decision of my life.

life partner found in travel

It was at HCL that I met Hirnmay. There he was my senior. Soon we both decided to spend our life together. But I didn’t want to get married soon. Because at that time my sister’s 12th studies were going on.

Later on, we both got married. Hirnmay supported me in every difficult phase of my life. But at that time HCL had a policy. According to which the couple cannot work together in the company. At the same time, I got a better offer from another company. So I left HCL. After that I went to HIRMAN INN. I went in Where I worked as Senior Regional Sales Manager for South India and Sri Lanka.

My husband supported me in every difficult phase of my life. It would not have been possible to do all this without their help.

event that changed lives

An incident happened to me in Bangalore itself which inspired me to do something different. During pregnancy, I often faced difficulties in public transport. Auto or cab people have a habit of canceling short distance rides. Due to which I would also face problems. Meanwhile, an auto driver refused to go and angrily advised to go on foot. That day I had to walk two kilometers. This thing hit my heart. Don’t know how many women would have to face such a situation.

In such a situation, I decided to do something and together with my husband started ‘Tummoc’ in Bangalore. Through this I am making public transport easy. So that the situation that I had to face, no other woman should have to face it. With the help of ‘Tummoc’, the timing of public transport can be found from home and tickets can also be booked. With the help of this, the common people of Bangalore are benefiting a lot today. Especially working women.

‘Tummoc’ is changing the notion that comfort is seen as a luxury. Our business is growing continuously. We have also tied up with Uber. Our goal is to provide comfortable public transport to millions of common people and women.
