The atmosphere in UP is tight. Netaji people are going to every house. Joining hands. Holding feet. He wants the public to vote in his favor. But in some seats the public has a different view. They make promises but do not even go to vote. Today we will talk about those 5 seats of UP where people do not even go to the booth on the day of voting. Let’s see one by one and understand the reason too…

Allahabad City North Seat: Allahabad University Is Here
Prayagraj district is a seat of Allahabad North Vidhan Sabha. It is considered to be the most educated seat of UP. This is what Allahabad University and Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology are. All the big officers-businessmen of the district live here, but they are laggy in terms of voting.

In 2007, only 24% voting took place in Allahabad North seat. The government’s concern increased. The administration was engaged in propaganda. The situation improved slightly in 2012. A total of 40.9% voting took place. In 2017, the situation remained the same and out of 4.5 lakh voters, only 1.5 lakh voters reached the booth to cast their votes. This seat has an unwanted record of low voter turnout. In 2002, 25.5% voting took place in Allahabad North seat. In 1996, 32.8% of the voters came out of the house.

Before moving on to the next story, I have a question for you.

Lucknow Cantt seat: Closest to Vidhan Sabha
The seat very close to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha building. Here the atmosphere remains hot not only during election time but also during the rest of the time. People talk a lot about politics on Twitter-Facebook, but do not leave the house to cast their vote. Let’s go back a bit, look at this chart of voting in the last 35 years.

Vote percentage of last 31 years in Lucknow Cantt Assembly

Vote percentage of last 31 years in Lucknow Cantt Assembly

Kadipur Assembly seat: Only 6 votes out of 100
Only 6% voting took place in Kadipur seat of Sultanpur district. Don’t be surprised, only six is written. In 1991, people did not even come out to vote on this seat. Out of the total 14 lakh voters, only 89 thousand people had cast their votes. Then BJP’s Ramchandar had won here.

The voting percentage in this Dalit-dominated seat has never been surprising. The figure got stuck between 20% and 30%, rising from 6%. The situation improved slightly in 2017 and the voting percentage reached 41.49%. But this figure is also much less than the state’s figure.

Jagdishpur assembly seat: The seat that greets the booth from afar
In 1977, only 18.4% people voted for Jagdishpur seat of Amethi district. In this election held after the Emergency, people went ahead by saying Namaste to the booth from a distance. Only 21 thousand people went inside the booth and stamped the ballot paper and put it in the box. Ramfer Kori of the Janata Party became the MLA. Things did not change even in 1980. Then 23 thousand people had cast their vote.

This SC reserve seat, which is considered to be of Congress, has been occupied by the Congress itself. The turnout here ranged between 25-35% due to the already predicted results. In 2012, Radheshyam of SP and Suresh Pasi of BJP won from here in 2017. In 2017, 53.35% voting was reached here.

Ikauna assembly seat: Somehow the situation is improving now
Main seat of Shravasti district. After delimitation in 2008, the seat was renamed as Shravasti Vidhan Sabha. Strange happened here in 1985. Out of the total 1.56 lakh voters, only 30 thousand people came to vote. Ramasagar Rao won the election. Now the voting percentage has increased here.

As soon as Ikauna to Shravasti assembly took place in 2008, as if there was a change here. In 2012 the voting percentage reached above 50%. It went up to 63.49% in 2017. The major reason for this is the seat shifting from reserve to general. When General became general, people voted fiercely, this was the reason that in 2017, BJP’s Ramferan got 79,437 and SP’s Mohd. Rizwan got 78,992 votes. The margin of victory was only 445 votes.

Urban voter is more hesitant
We talked to Dr. Dhananjay Chopra, Head of Media Department of Allahabad University regarding this question. He said that the complaint of low voting is more in urban areas. Voters here believe whether everything will happen with our vote. He further said – there is a need to motivate urban voters. Whether the candidate has a direct association with him, his caste or there is a big wave of change, only then the voter will go from house to booth.

Dr. Chopra said- This situation is not going to change even in the coming elections, because urban people are the most sensitive about Corona. He will avoid standing in line amid the dangers of Corona. In such a situation, it is necessary that the government takes big decisions regarding security.

unilateral election result
In seats with less voting, the result is already decided. Like the seat of Lucknow Cantt. People here have agreed that BJP will win. That’s why the opposing voters do not show any interest in voting. It is not fun if the struggle is one sided. This is the reason why half of the people consider voting day as a holiday.

What is the Election Commission doing for the percentage
Election commission is making awareness for voting. He used to do the same thing before. The administration is conducting flag marches in the areas. Trying to send the message that there is no need to be afraid of anyone. This used to happen earlier also but the pace of improvement has been very slow. Now all the officials on social media are appealing for voting. This is also proving to be effective. At present, increasing the percentage in the midst of the Corona crisis is a serious challenge.
