The wall of a nearby house collapsed while cutting the foundation of the house under the housing scheme. The tragic incident took place in Darbeshpara, Ward 17 of Dubrajpur Municipality in Birbhum district. The name of the dead worker is Fatik Khan. Doctors pronounced him dead when he was taken to hospital in critical condition. This incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the families of the workers.

According to police and local sources, work is underway to build houses under the housing scheme in that area of ​​Birbhum district. Fatik Khan and his son-in-law Sheikh Habibullah, a resident of Islampur Naimi Para in Ward 8 of Dubrajpur Municipality, were laying the foundation stone of the house of Dashrath Baury, a resident of this ward. However, while cutting the foundation at half past noon today, a side wall inadvertently fell on Fatik Khan. Her son-in-law quickly removed the broken part of the wall and rescued her. Fatik Khan died on the way to Dubrajpur Rural Hospital.

Habibullah complained that they were not told that the wall of the next room was fragile. Upon receiving the news of this incident, the police reached the spot. Manik Mukherjee, councilor of ward 17, also rushed to the spot. He said the work of cutting the foundation was almost over. There was a kitchen next to it. The wall of the kitchen broke and the worker was hit in the head. The body was taken to Surrey Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
