The roof leaked and water entered the Sealda station, causing extreme suffering to the passengers during the puja

Last two years Durga Puja was hindered by Corona. And this time the joy of Durga Puja is interrupted. Cyclones have formed in the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal during Mahashasthi itself. As a result, several districts, including Kolkata, were practically drenched in rain on the evening of the 6th. However, in the rain, many people went out for the puja circumambulation with umbrellas on their heads. And in the meantime, problems arose at Sealda station. Due to the leakage of the roof of the booking counter, water flowed down into the station. Temporary counters were removed to deal with the problem. As a result, passengers and booking staff are suffering.

20 thousand foreign tourists appeared in Bengal on Durga Puja, what was the impact?

The railway authorities had already predicted that the number of passengers at Sealda station would increase this year due to the passing of the corona episode. Due to this, the Prafulla Dar of the station has been temporarily opened to handle the crowd. Also, three ticket counters have been temporarily opened in front of the gate for the convenience of passengers. As the evening progressed, the crowd of passengers increased and at the same time heavy rain fell. As a result, many passengers took shelter at Sealda station. Besides, the temporary ticket counters that were opened to handle the passenger pressure also had to be evacuated due to the rain. As a result, the passengers faced extreme problems.

Sealdah DRM SP Singh acknowledged the problem. He said that there was a problem but it was ordered to be solved. Incidentally, the cyclone is currently in North East Bay of Bengal. There is an axis. Due to which the rain will increase on the eighth, ninth and tenth days in the districts of North Bengal. Rain will increase especially in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar. However, there is no possibility of heavy rain in Kolkata, said the Meteorological Department.
